Festival of Blossom inspired by Japanese tradition
A festival inspired by the Japanese tradition of Hanima has got under way in Worctestershire.
Hanbury Hall's Festival of Blossom began on Monday and encourages people to appreciate the beauty of blossom in bloom.
Hanima, or flower viewing, is the focus of the event, which runs until 28 April with a range of activities including blossom bathing, crafts, talks and storytelling.
Several species of blossom tree are found at the country retreat near Bromsgrove, including plum, pear, apple, and cherry.
Visitors are encouraged to grab a yoga mat and take a deep breath as they rest beneath the apple blossom.
Gardener Nicki will also be on hand to guide people through a short talk amongst the apple trees to teach them more about the historic orchard on Wednesday at 12:15 BST and on 24 April at the same time.
Arty visitors can enjoy an art workshop led by local artist Shirley Sloman between 13:00 and 15:00 on Thursday.
Children can make their own blossom tree out of card and tissue paper in the Long Gallery on Sunday between 11:00 and 15:00 and at the same time on 28 April.
Inside the hall, a seasonal exhibition inspired by blossom features information and poems.
Local author Ruth Goddard will be reading from her books Blossom and the Bees on Saturday and Sunday, and then again on 27 April, between 11:00 and 15:00.
